Shrine Contest

THE WISHING YEAR SHRINE CONTEST

Make A WISHING YEAR Shrine and Win A Week’s Stay in France!

Is there power in wishing?  If so, how can this power be tapped? Create your own personal shrine, enter our contest, and find out!

When authors Noelle Oxenhandler and Carole Watanabe wanted a beach house in France, they first created a shrine.  Why?  Because, from past experience, they knew that a shrine would be a strong, visual reminder to keep themselves centered and purposeful in fulfilling their wish….

Their wish came true, and now they’re offering YOU a one-week stay at their house on the Mediterranean!  To win this prize, here’s what you need to do:

1) Decide what it is that you are wishing for this year.  Then create your own personal shrine that represents this wish-come-true.

2) Your shrine can be any size and made of any material, but it must be three-dimensional, and it should have strong visual presence.

3) Send a digital photograph of your shrine to:  TheWishingYear@gmail.com

4) To accompany this photograph, send us a brief description (up to 100 words) of what it is you’re wishing for, and why.  Please take some time, to craft your words!

5) Finally, pick one passage from Noelle’s The Wishing Year and one passage from Carole’s The Ecstatic Marriage of Art and Life and tell us, in a sentence or two, why each passage was especially meaningful for you.

6) The deadline for sending your photographs and accompanying words is New Year’s Day, 2009.  Winners will be announced on NoelleOxenhandler.com and Artfully.com on February 1, 2009.

Second and Third Prize winners will receive a giclee “Wish Come True” print by Carole, a writing consultation with Noelle, and signed copies of the authors’ books.

***This contest is NOT sponsored by Random House.  To stay in the French house, you must accept the “house rules”…and one responsible adult must be present for the week.
